Investing in Cyprus, Together

Over €1.2 million invested annually in community programmes, education, and social initiatives across the island.

Our Commitment

Banking That Gives Back

As a member-owned cooperative, our success belongs to the communities we serve. We do not distribute profits to external shareholders — instead, we reinvest them into programmes that strengthen Cyprus: educational scholarships, small business support, housing assistance, and financial literacy workshops that have reached tens of thousands of Cypriots.

Community investment is not a marketing exercise for CUSB — it is built into our founding mission. Since 1962, we have been inseparable from the towns, villages, and neighbourhoods we operate in. When Cyprus thrives, we thrive. When our communities face hardship, we step up.

From Nicosia to Paphos, our community team works year-round to identify and fund the projects that matter most to our members and their families.

Our Programmes

How We Invest in Cyprus

Four flagship programmes delivering lasting impact across the island.

Financial Literacy Programme

Since 2012, our Financial Literacy Programme has delivered free workshops, seminars, and school visits across all regions of Cyprus. We believe that financial knowledge is a right, not a privilege — and that empowered individuals make stronger communities.

  • Free budgeting and savings workshops in all cities
  • School curriculum partnerships for ages 14–18
  • University campus talks on credit, debt, and investing
  • Online learning portal: free to all Cypriot residents
  • Multilingual resources in Greek, English, Turkish, and Russian
  • Senior citizen financial safety workshops (fraud prevention)

CUSB Scholarship Programme

Our scholarship programme has supported over 340 Cypriot students since its launch in 2005. We fund undergraduate and postgraduate education at Cypriot and European universities, with a focus on students from lower-income households who demonstrate academic excellence.

  • Annual scholarships of up to €6,000 per year for undergraduates
  • Postgraduate awards of up to €10,000 for master's degrees
  • Priority areas: Finance, Economics, Computer Science, and Law
  • Mentorship pairing with CUSB professionals
  • Applications open annually from January to March
  • No obligation to work for CUSB after graduation

Affordable Housing Initiative

Home ownership remains one of the most meaningful financial milestones for Cypriots. Our Affordable Housing Initiative provides subsidised mortgage rates, deposit assistance grants, and free first-home buyer consultations to help more Cypriot families access housing affordably.

  • First-home buyer deposit assistance grants of up to €5,000
  • Reduced mortgage rates for qualifying low-to-middle income members
  • Free home buying seminars in all branch cities
  • Partnership with the Cyprus Land Development Corporation
  • Emergency rental assistance for members facing hardship
  • Energy efficiency loan scheme for home improvements

Small Business & Startup Support

Cyprus's entrepreneurs and small business owners are the backbone of the island's economy. Our SME Support Programme goes beyond loans — we provide grants, mentorship, and access to a network of experienced business advisors to help local businesses start, grow, and succeed.

  • Annual startup grants of up to €10,000 (no equity required)
  • Free business planning and financial advisory sessions
  • CUSB Accelerator: 12-week programme for early-stage startups
  • Reduced-rate business accounts for the first two years
  • Networking events connecting local entrepreneurs island-wide
  • Women in Business special programme with dedicated mentors
